ARMENIA

A cradle of civilization

History

The history of Armenia goes several millennia, with some estimates placing the beginnings of Armenian civilization to be as much as 4,500 years ago. As a result, the country is filled with numerous historical sites ranging from Greco-Roman pagan temples to medieval monasteries and fortresses. Significant events such as the invention of Winemaking, expansion and eventual collapse of the Armenian empire as well as the acceptance of Christianity as a state religion in the year 301 AD have all contributed to the rich yet distinct Armenian culture.
