cafés and Restaurants
The city's downtown (Kentron District) has no shortage of cafés, coffee shops, restaurants, and other eateries. Here, one can try traditional Armenian classics, such as Tolma, Lahmajun, or Khorovats; however, many eateries also offer more international options, from countries as different as Georgia, Italy, Japan, China, France, and others, satisfying even the most picky of eaters. Not only that, but most cafés are situated in scenic locations, often either being within serene parks or having breathtaking panoramic views of the city's skyline.
UNIQUE ARCHITECTURE
Yerevan's architecture is a mixture of the old and the new, blending Soviet-era constructions with contemporary and modern designs. Much of the city is built out of the faintly rosy colored "Tuff" stone, which is a volcanic rock indigenous to the region; this is why Yerevan is sometimes referred to as, "The pink city."
A green city
The current layout of streets in the city of Yerevan was drawn out by the architect, Alexander Tamanian in the early 1900s, who designed Yerevan on the principles of being a "garden city." This is why Yerevan, Armenia's capital, has so many public parks, fountains, and gardens. These places of rest and relaxation offer a special kind of refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city. Some examples include but are not limited to: Lover's Park, Freedom Square, Swan lake, Downtown Park, and Missak Manouchian park.
